This was by far the best Valentine's Day I've ever had...considering I've never really had an exciting one. Because our weekends start on Thursdays here, one of the advisors took us to historical hot springs today in Viterbo. The hot springs (Terme dei Papi) were originally built by and for popes to use, and are now part of a hotel/spa in the middle of the city.
I'm not really sure what I was expecting before I got there, but it was certainly not what I saw. The hot springs mineral pool was HUGE and could fit hundreds of people in it. We got there early in the morning, before the crowds came, but by the middle of the day it was packed with people (mostly couples). The weather was also incredible! We have had such bad luck with rain, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky today. It wasn't necessarily warm, but the hot water kept us warm enough so that we didn't freeze when we got out.
I honestly feel so relaxed and content after today. This entire journey has been the most educational and life-changing thing I've ever done and will possibly ever do. I've learned so much about myself and so much about meeting new people that are completely different from anyone I've ever met before. I'm so lucky to be here and to have spent the day with some of the greatest people I've met here (shoutout to my Valentines: Moira, Steph, and Caitlin), and I can't wait to see what's in store for me over the next few weeks. This relaxed feeling will soon be over, considering I have a midterm and a presentation on Monday, but I'm taking it all in for now.
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone's day is filled with friends, family, and chocolate. Baci!
